The parish has decided to better use the Catholic Relief Services Rice Bowl. CRS is the international humanitarian arm of the US Catholic Bishops. Gather family or friends around your Rice Bowl. Extend hands over your Rice Bowl and pray the following prayer:

We pray that the stories, recipes and prayers
from CRS Rice Bowl will help
us grow closer to God during this season of Lent.
Let us send our prayers to the people we meet
and to all people in need.
Amen

This Lent our parish will participate in CRS Rice Bowl, a faith-in-action program to help you experience Lenten spirituality by living in solidarity with people in need around the world.
In this Year of Mercy, it is especially appropriate to come together in prayer as a family this Lent, reflecting on how we can live this call to mercy more abundantly.
As a family, read the Stories of Hope and daily reflections. Learn about life, hardship and hope in countries throughout the world. Prepare simple meatless meals on Fridays throughout Lent to eat in solidarity with our brothers and sisters around the world.
For more prayers and activities, including color pages, visit http://www.crsricebowl.org/families.

Be sure to visit http://www.crsricebowl.org to view videos of people and communities whose lives your Lenten gifts are changing through the CRS Rice Bowl.

Traditionally, the three practices of Lent are prayer, fasting, and giving. The CRS Rice Bowl offers us a means of each of these practices: a calendar with prayer included; recipes of meatless meals; and creative ways of giving. Keep the calendar handy as you travel through your Lenten journey.

Gather the family and take the Rice Bowl Quiz found HERE.

Now that you know more about the purpose and people involved with Rice Bowl contributions, using the Rice Bowl calendar will guide you through the practices of Lent: prayer, fasting and giving.
